Images of past rewind in a mind
but suddenly an unprecedented error
and the tape splits and breaks
at the point of love.

Now in this new world order
there’s no manner and means
of joining again the damaged
that once reigned supreme.

But there’s a glitter and shine
on the road to the future
that neither holds a promise
nor the gift of life.

Yet walk we do one and all
proud of having so advanced
beyond and meaningful
and into the unknown.

How brave the multitudes
who sacrifice unknowingly
in their forgetfulness and disregard
of the seemingly outdated.

I’m not brave; I cannot be
when knowing that the point of love
is the place to stop, feel, see,
there’s no future without “you”!

Good to see you on the Blue Page again, Helen . . . I can see that your absence hasn't dulled your writing ability, you're still as sharp as you ever were.

Hi Bruce.  I thought I'd done enough thinking about life but it seems that once again I was wrong.  Thanks for the read.

No future, indeed, without it.  And they wonder why we have a hard time living without it?  Nicely done, Helen.

Enjoyed your words Helen and agree.

Thinking about life should never be "finished", my friend ... especially if we put aside self-pity and remember we're far from the bottom of the heap.

enjoyed this as I always do you...

Thank you all for your kind comments.  I guess that as long as there's life we owe it to ourselves to think about it.  May not come to any definite and true conclusions but perhaps that's immaterial.

Helen, this is so heart-wrenching. A longing for that special someone to share past, current, and future times with, in faith, joy, and loving.  Beautifully written, dear lady!

Thank you, JL - and I spotted a typo with the re-reading.  Strange how those can go unnoticed.

Thank you, Ida. It's not good to rewind but I guess we all do it at some time or other.
