Then dragons flew
and I was lost in admiration of the lightning.
Thunder fell from clouds that swirled
and kissed the rooftops,
pulled them toward a heaven
that waits for us all.

In vain.

Nan, I was busy feeling and celebrating this gorgeous poem's magnificence (despite the horror of people losing their roofs - but I understand that that wasn't the point of the moment - it was the power of the storm in all its glory - well, up to then, anyhow) - and then I was hit in the solar plexus by the last line.  Whew, she says, as she slowly recovers . . . well, almost . . .

Powerful and thought provoking, Nan. I think I will sleep on this. Goodnight.

Oh guys, thanks so much.  You really got the poem.  I posted it to some friends a while back, and they didn't get it at all.  It feels so good to talk to people who can see what I'm saying.
