I sit
in front of the monitor
but I'm looking out the window
intense sunshine
birds flitting here flitting there
forging for food
the world
outside my window
goes on
without my contribution
I'm a solitary person
I've always been somewhat of  a loner
but these last two decades+plus
(my writing decades)
I'm even more so
a solitary guy
my world consists of words
punctuation and grammar
stories, poems
words
there's no room for much of anything else
I broke out of that solitary confinement
this past twelvemonths
now she's gone
that's not a good thing
I feel my keyboard
is becoming my headstone

Other than poetry ancestry is quite interesting. I belong to ancestry.com and can be quite addictive and fun. Enjoyed reading as usual Jerry.

I keep busy, Victoria, and I keep busy doing what I like to do. My line about the keyboard being my headstone was just another way of saying I will be writing poetry and novels until I die. Thank you again for checking my poetry out.

Sometimes words can be more comforting than people and, yes, we must do what we like doing even if we do it alone.  However, we do as humans need human company and then balance is the keyword.

Hello Helen, long time no see, good to see you back. Yes, there needs to be a balance between what really turns us on and human company. It is that balance that can prove difficult to provide, for some need more balance than do others. Again, it is good to see you.

My keyboard is probably the best friend I have, Jerry, because it listens to, accepts, reminds, reflects and, God help me, it knows my soul even better than I do.

If I have to be alone, in any way, give me a live keyboard, and leave me in peace...

I hear you, and agree with your assessment of the keyboard one hundred percent, J. Appreciate you being here this morning.

I do feel lucky, Lori, and thank you for your comment to that effect. I love the frosting you put on your comments . . .
