She Danced

Out from the mystic shadow, she stepped into the night
clothed in something shimmering that flowed with glistened light.
It stopped my breath. It skipped my heart and locked my brain in place
as she walked across the dancing floor with poise of regal grace.

The houselight dimmed. Voices muted. The audience held its breath
which seemed as one eternal gasp prolonged, pulled and stretched.
I heard the finger cymbals clash and break the air with sound.
The music played. She moved a foot. A tremor pulsed the ground.

The rhythm grabbed me, enfold wrapped me with its sultry beat,
igniting blood to reckless boil while riveted to my seat.
I tried to move. I tried to blink. My eyes were locked to stay
‘cause on her belly button there a jewel did rhythmic sway.

Hynotic twinkling glints of light did mesmerize my core.
Her toes, bejeweled with gems of flash, danced upon the floor.
And when she twirled and came to stop, our eyes electric met.
The jewel unlodged. It leaped from her and landed on my chest.

Stunned I was. My legs rose up. She watched from where she stood
as the jewel began to float my feet across the floor of wood.
She grabbed my waist. She touched my hand and I was hers at last.
I didn’t hear the audience clap. I only heard my gasp.

Magic, witchcraft, tricks of sorcery! Who cares what was in play.
She made me beam. I fell in love and married her anyway.
And on the nights we kiss the light which pulls us both entranced,
we glance the jewel. We laugh and sing and dance! dance! dance!

Ahhh . . . This is precious, Namyh. You made it so real the reader (me) felt as he was watching from the sidelines. Thank you for this, it is wonderful, made me think of words like Fatima and Little Egypt . . .

What a lovely story.  Perhaps the mystic is actually real and we've just got things mixed up.

Kat – I say any poet who can inject ‘magic’ in the day of a fellow poet and reader can be proud of the created work which did it and I am. Thanks a lot for your ‘magic’  Kay. Namyh

Victoria – Because you enjoyed this work as a fun read, you have successfully injected ‘victory’ in my day Victoria and you've got me feeling kinda wonderful too. Thanks for stopping by a spell and enjoying. Namyh

Jerry – Now you got me feeling all precious and stuff and I, along with Fatima and Little Egypt, thank you. You know! I thought that was you watching from the sidelines. That jewel jump!. Wild, wasn’t it! Did you get a Kodak shot of that? LOL. So very happy this transported you thus fulfilling the prime directive of this created work. Now you’ve re-instilled the ‘dance’ in me. Somebody turn the music on! Thanks JP for your wonderful words of enjoyment. Namyh

Honeybunch – If the mystic is real and we’ve gotten things all mixed up, it won’t be the first time and there’s a good chance we’ll do it again. They say it’s called learning by default. I call it progress! So in that light and for that cause, everybody get up and……DANCE! So very happy you found a little ‘loveliness’ here and thus put some needed ‘honeybunch’ in my day. Thanks. Namyh

jwesley – I think that last sentence was constructed for all who have fallen in love, hope to fall in love and those who wish to fall in love again. Perhaps dancing is just a vertical expression of a horizontal desire that we humans find irrepressible and which poets just love to write about. You’ve definitely put a little ‘LOve’ in the day. Thanks J for enjoying. Namyh
