Elizabethtown Nights

In the summer
the sun can cook you
like KFC's crispy fried chicken,
but if you get under the shade
of a stately oak tree
and take in a sweet country breeze
it seems to be 20 degrees cooler in the shade,
its like coming into the arms
of a sweet Kentucky woman
on a cool Elizabethtown night
when she pulls you close
after she turns off the lights.

Hmmm, I am familiar with Kentucky and Elizabethtown...Spent many enjoyable years at Murray State University..."resting" under large oak trees on "warm" summer nites. Interesting poem, James.RV

One of my favorites James. Especially when the lights went out.
