October's chill, soon winter's blast,
We can now say summer has past.
The colder tempts feel right at home,
And from my psyche comes a moan.

Soon winter's freeze will be taking part,
Where things are dead, much like my heart.
This is the month our love began,
I've been told I'm not the best man.

Yes, I have memories to dream,
They're not special as once they seemed.
I've been reduced to just a friend,
I wonder when will be the end.

I hate all the stuff that we say,
I feel so mulish when I bray.
Sometimes I wish we'd never met,
I'd not have pawned my heart in debt.
