Used to seek the lighthouse
now, I seek its memories
Time to climb the spiral
seems far along from here.

Days now I spiral the adjacent block
keeping my heart in good repair.
My dog lagging behind
or pulling me onward with an odd glee.

The shore's well beyond my door
the shoal, an unseen entity.
The sand's held in place by vegetation,
loaded foundations, save for gusts and gales.

My traveling companion has other coals
the shoals call her no more.
Someone's stepped into her life
and I get snippets, when time's to spare.

'Sokay though, got my dog, my easy chair
a crossword, friends that like my wares
when the pan finds its way
to fulfilling my hankering to create.

VAS

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

That sums up the poem, and I have to say you are taking it without throwing a tantrum as so many do, myself included when love begin to turn cold. Well written, VAS . . .

Well, it's my daughter and the love's still there, just the changes that life brings about. We used to do a lot together, her life has become quite full.

I did get 8 days with her following my triple bypass in April. Now we get a few moments on the phone a few times a week. Just a mom lamenting.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Love your poem, Vas.  Glad to see from the comments, that it ain't so bad - but I know what you mean, being a mom myself.

Please give your dogs lots of hugs from Auntie Di from sunny South Africa.  What's his/her name? And what does he/she look like?

Owl, her dog Benji and her cat Cleo

I know the feeling...when alone...it, sometimes, helps to pet the dog!
I enjoyed the poem.
