Midnight in the City of Sin,
A stranger stood tall with a grin,
Staring at 1239 1st Street,
Ann Rice's house, not so discreet.

This man whispered secrets untold,
He'd traveled many miles to behold
This woman's house who wrote of him.
It made him crave blood on a whim.

Lestat be gone, Longmire's his name,
Ann Rice usurped some of his fame.
He came for revenge, her to slay,
Too late, too late, she's gone away.

She left this town and went out west,
He will find her, she is his quest.
But now he needs a taste of blood,
It matters not, slattern or stud.

A movement to his left he sees,
Smell of fresh blood buckles his knees.
She is his for nocturnal bloodlust,
This midnight delight is a must.

He comes to her, he hears her say,
My blood you'll not take on this day.
He stops, confused, and then moves on,
He wants to hear her cry and moan.

She mumbles words he does not know,
Suddenly she begins to glow.
He anticipates how she will taste,
Warm salty blood won't go to waste.

She took a chicken from her cloak,
Bit off its head, said, This is no joke.
My Voodoo blood will never flow,
You have just met Marie Laveau.

Jerry, excellent poem..."Lestat Be Gone"! Thank you for stopping by and commenting...understanding the human genome, chemistry and behavior, in my way of thinking, will result in changes in civilized systems of human control. The systems involving the concept of freewill will come under much scrutiny. It will be interesting how law and religion will evolve.

Thanks, r v wooo. As far as the changes in civilized systems of human control, there is no double that we are evolving, and to what end? I have no idea, but if you read the headlines in our daily papers it seems that the world's population has begun a scorched earth movement.

Jerry, ...Marie Laveau...a Voodoo Queen of the Nite, brings back memories of my experiences with hoodoo...very similar to voodoo.

The true hoodoo and voodoo Queens are darkside masters of human psychology, carefully existing on the backside of the mirror...casting no reflections. The vampire tendencies lean more toward money rather than blood!

Excellent story poem, Jerry...

Thanks again, r v wooo, and since I live in the swamps where Laveau once (and still does) practice her voodoo, or hoodoo, I think there is no difference in them except the names are, I am partial to Marie . . .

And like meets like, but disavows kin. *chuckle*

I wish I had a dime for every time...*shaking my head*

I've a picture of St. Ann's Orphanage over my bed, signed by H.R.H. herself.

Some would question the wisdom of sleeping below such a questionable icon, but then? Very few are allowed into my inner chambers.

I much enjoyed this. A fun duel to imagine.

G'nite my friend.

Thanks Lady, only you would sleep below a picture of the orphanage and once signed by such a famous person . . . And yes, the duel would be interesting to say the least.
