intricate and delicate
flower lined,
but full of life
beating mutely
like skin drums filled with water.

thumping quietly in the night
like so many hairy monsters,
only gentle
talons kind and paws soft
misunderstood.

copper tinged
like air,
when the body needs it most
a requirement to live
my love for you.
