I Wish, Just Once . . .
(from The Faces of Love)

Water always seems to have
magical affects . . .
especially between the toes,
when walking just inside the tide line
on the sand of a quiet beach.

The mind tends to forget
the harshness of reality
as it listens to the waves sigh
just as they reverse
and head back to sea,
as if they wish, just once,
they could stay on shore.

But they always return to the sea
to be absorbed, dispersed,
lost in the enormity . . .

My heart does the same.

I meet someone - they
wash through my soul
with magical affects
on every atom of my existence,

and just as everything in the enormity
of who I am
tells me how glorious love truly is,
reality in all it's hidden magnificence
turns its back on me,
withdraws, disperses,
and is absorbed
back into the emptiness
of one . . . not two.

Love, I wish,
like the water
rushing between my toes,
could, just once,

Stay.

You know, J, I don't know why people look forward to falling in love. From my point of view there is more pain and heartache caused from love that there is joy and happiness. Just my opinion . . .

...I've no idea what life would be without wistful longing, but I can hope that your toes would stay so wet for so long, that they wrinkle.

Thanks for sharing, j.

Amen... spoken quietly with the reverent tone this poem and its wishes deserve. *S* I still hope... I still wish... maybe once is in my future. *S* Beautiful write!
