Our Garden of Eden

(from Riding The Greyhound)

Millie was my Eve.
My first love while riding the greyhound.

Big grey dog hummed our vows,
sang to us, coaxed us into chastity,
pledged us into respectfulness -
for the other riders,

and we kept our pledge until Yuma, Arizona,
where we became one,
beneath the stars and moon,
and mesquite canopy,

red wine,
Ritz crackers,
Millie, me,

and our Garden of Eden.

Red wine! Yes. Not as vital as Millie I concede, but it was vital enough that you remembered it . . . And you know everything taste better on a Ritz! Ahh, the greyhound has seen and promoted much.
