don't mind saying
walking along a narrow neighborhood street
spotting a head sticking out from behind a tire
is a bit disconcerting

well, to say the least,
yet
when I arrived parallel,
all was well,
a quite living body was attached
and some form of labor
or repair

was occurring,
at least that's what it looked like

by then, I couldn't help but smile
was my smile relief
or humor?

the head was attached to a stranger
so I didn't speak my thoughts

am I stranger still?

maybe it's closer to Halloween than we think

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

absolutely loved the opening!!!

"don't mind saying

and the way you tied to it was great!

Once saw a guy lying in a yard half under a car, a jack next to the front wheel...I kept going but had to turn back, and after getting in his yard I called to him several times, with no reply, movement, anything --- finally I reached him, and shook is leg . . .
this guy had gotten sleepy while fixing to change his tire, and laid down half under the car for the shade!!!

but who knows, huh??

enjoyed,

j.

Thanks for your comment and sharing of a similar experience. That would have really spooked me.

You helped me enjoy this piece even more than when I was writing it.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

pondering while moving on at a
fast clip...

Enjoyed.

Absolutely Halloween kind of poetry, at least you made it seem that way.

thought so, Alison, or an unusual spelling of "sly"

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
