Daylight Dreams

(from Riding The Greyhound)

It was Paris,
Texas,
and the honky-tonk jukebox
was classic Johnny Cash wanting to know
how high the water was,
and she danced,
not to the beat,
not to the rhythm, but to the heart,
slow and sensuous. . .

The beer kept coming,
Lone Star on tap, but who cared,
it was cold, like ice,
bubbly and wet,
everything needed
when the air is hot,
the wind still,
and pheromones lay like fog
throughout the room.

And I kept drinking,
sniffing the air,
taking in the scent of her
with every breathe,

watching her,
watching her . . . Dance.

And the big grey dog moved on,
as I slept.

WoW! The only beer I hated more than Lone Star was Dixie. We both have a bar in our posting today, J. Me in my self-imposed misery and you on the grey dog within your wandering phase.
