PENSIVE
4 October 2012

A smile almost whispered
across her October face
washing it with morning light.

Nobody knew
nor would they have understood,
nor could they,
nobody, except her animals
and everyone else’s
and those running free.

The trees mingled with her thoughts
teasing them in soft greens
and browns
and greys,
swirling them
in kaleidoscope patterns
that danced sacred memories in the breeze.

She slow-breathed the fluff-ball acacia air
permeated with dreams
and lifted her face to the sky
to be kissed by the sun,
like a waking daisy
basking in gratitude
and happiness
and the deep, deep secrets
of the rich, brown earth.

She was
of her beloved earth
since
time began.
She was one of its special secrets
as it was hers.

a fine 'write' as always ...

I'm particularly fond of the ending:

" basking in gratitude
  and happiness
  and the deep, deep secrets
  of the rich, brown earth.

  She was
  of her beloved earth
  since
  time began.
She was one of its special secrets
  as it was hers. "

Awww, Diana, so beautifully said.

Nobody knew
nor would they have understood,
nor could they,
nobody, except her animals

I bet you knew that I would fall into these words.

Love you,

Oh yes, Alison!  Thank you for reading and understanding this with your heart and soul.  What would be do/be - and where would we be, without our animals?  The thought of that horror gives me cold shivers and an inability to think of it for more than a moment.  I would long since have been in a curly jacket.

Love you too.

Hugs to you and all your dogalogs and catalats

Your pensive poem has given me a sip of the same peace my babies do... a respite from the rush and worry. Beautiful work from a beautiful writer! *S*

Enjoy the way you weave the botanical and the zoological of your corner of the globe.

Thank you, Krawdad.  I am glad you enjoyed it so much.  Without animals and nature, I would be locked up somewhere wearing a curly-jacket, lol!

..yes, the freedom of trees and the secrets they impart to they whom they care about..and
one mustn't neglect the interpersonal relations betwixt they and their pets..'tis
a circle this poem, a circle of awareness;
an epiphany....much enjoyed..

Aww this reminds me of my niece an ethereal young lady who has an affinity for animals and the earth! Loved it!
