The moonlight cast upon the street
A shadow there forever sketched
And footprints carved of lovers’ feet
Where in the night a sigh was etched

A phrase of love was softly scrolled
Upon a page of passing wind
Unspoken words that didn’t unfold
Engraved forever deep within

She wandered back through lamplight’s glow
In shadows of remembered bliss
Embossed upon the lamp post found
Impressions of a lasting kiss

And from love’s overflowing well
A single frozen teardrop fell
In sparkling bits of icy lace
A loving smile on his face

Beautifully sad piece of writing, Elizabeth, the teardrop being the catalyst of remembering of love lost. This is masterful, haunting poetry.

Lady Santos,

As only you ever could,
then do,
then pause
to know....

heartfelt acknowledgement.

"She wandered back through lamplight’s glow

Enjoyed the entire write
but this verse was mellow,
soft, and filled with memory
lasting forever.

finely 'penned' ! ....

I especially loved that:

" phrase of love ... softly scrolled
Upon a page of passing wind "
