God always lingers just a moment
On the edge of night
Hoping I’ll not miss a sunset’s
Fading sreaks of light

One day the sky in full display
Was gazing down at me
With all of its magnificence
In pure simplicity

And I, too pressed for time, I thought
Gave no regard at all
For what appeared before me
In the fleeting days of fall

God could not let the moment pass
Unnoticed by my eyes
And stretched his fingers toward the west
And grabbed the sunset skies

Magenta once again was spread
Across the fading scene
And purple streaks mixed in with gold
More rich than any dream

I said, dear God, next time I’ll view
This  sky at any cost
God said, next time you miss, my friend
Will be your total loss

Quite a conversation with God, and a righteous one at that. We do take the beauty around us for granted, I know I do, we all do in varying degrees.

The beauty in the sky is our gift from the Devine.
Well done,

Liz, this was just beautiful.
I love to watch the evening skies.

You don't know how much I needed this... or how healing the lines were. *S* But come sunset, I'll be watching and giving thanks... to both God and his poetic messenger. *S* Beautiful work!

you just described, beautifully the soft warm rouge that spread across the early evening sky one day last week. How did you see the same sky as I at just the right moment?Lovely. jo
