Uploaded with ImageShack.us

The cavernous pieces of my life,
Moves ahead like rivers cresting a bank,
If I have a soul it is deep and wide,
And all this time I thought I'd drawn a blank.

It took awhile for me to understand,
That I like who I've become deep inside,
Took many decades to get to this point,
I'm enjoying the last days of my ride.

The world is changing right before my eyes,
I feel it's changing for the worst, alas,
The language goes over my head sometimes,
There are times I feel like the dunce in class.

No matter, it's how I see me that counts,
I perceive humans as true works of art,
There are times of clarity that words can't reach,
Sometimes I feel empathy with Descartes.

The world as we know it is crumbling down,
Even as my mind is ever alert,
I see what I see and it is not good,
There is little peace, mobs want to subvert.

That I like who I've become deep inside,
Took many decades to get to this point,

I like the whole poem but particularly these lines... for my head was nodding in agreement as I read them.

I know what you mean by what is happening in the world...it is so very sad that our grandchildren have no idea what it felt like to grow up in a world with no danger on so many levels...*sigh* it's like the world has lost its innocence...my friend, you write it well...you inspire me...*BIG HUGS*

Yes, Karen, sad is the word. Hopefully come this November we can put a little sanity back in the America I hardly know anymore.

I shake my head in dismay everyday. There is something cold and impersonal about modern times.  We are raising a generation of emotionally & spiritually malnurished.
Good write.

I'm with suthern on this.
See pulled out the same verse
I did, so no need to repeat it.

Very deep thoughts.

Hi JL, appreciate your thoughts on this one. Don't know how deep it is, but I do know my own thoughts have me worried.

I couldn't agree more, Jerry. I feel that change and there's certainly not much hope attached to it. It is way past time for people to wise up.
