Fall Meadow

The mornings are much cooler now
With sometimes a touch of frost
The sun shows it face later
And sets with autumn gold’s sooner

The forest path is still alive
Birds, squirrels and wildlife search
For food to store for winter
Their lively chatter sooths the soul

Stately tree boughs protect the path
Invisible to all but
Those who search for that most rare
Love that defies this brutal world

She still walks silently the path
With faith in mountains magic
Knowing their ancient wisdom
Fills the well waiting in meadow

Standing at the entrance watching
The beauty of fall meadow
Where the foxes still scamper
Though no longer are they young kits

Golden colors bathing the leaves
While setting sun lights the path
Nature’s sounds fill evening air
The vision in the well draws her

Yes indeed, even down here in the swamp fall is making an appearance. While it is still quite most days, the temperatures drop pleasantly at night. This is a very descriptive piece of work you have for us today, Karen. That is your forte, the descriptions within the framework of your poetry.

You searched outside in the wilderness and inside your soul here Karen. A fine poem of observation and perhaps more parts to come?

Thank you for sharing.

And a beautiful vision it is too.
Great write.
