The kids next door are oh so loud,
Where are their parents to allow.
I've glared at them when passing by,
Even dared looked one in the eye
It is their laughter which is worse,
Sometimes it makes me want to curse.
I wish they would stop and be calm,
If not I could use some healing balm.
I feel like a cad, yes I do,
Remembering my childhood's zoo.
I guess it's me, it must be me,
Children's laughter's a thing of glee.

Yes, it is you, grumpy old man! But that seem to be the way of things.  Your station in life at this point is to stand guard over the orderly, calm and quiet. You are an icon we all recognize: "Get out of my yard!"  Bless your heart

I guess I am at that, just a grumpy old man, that must be why my readers have plummeted so drastically. Guess I'm wearing thin on people.

Back in Open 45, I posted a poem that contained these lines:

Their laughter seems offensive now
To one who has forgotten how

It's hard to hear chortles of glee when your heart is heavy... for whatever reason. Hoping things get better for you!

It was just a poem, suthern. All poems don't have to be real, although I can't blame you for thinking so because I do insert reality throughout my poetry. I'm doing just fine, really.

You're preaching to the choir about all poems not having to be diary entries!! Or maybe I'm in the AMEN corner! LOL Glad your words don't reflect your mood!

Not this time, suthern, but probably seventy percent of the time they do.

I'm happy the poem put a smile on that pretty face of yours, Karen, that just makes my day.
