I up and turned sixty,
...my life's done whizzed by,
Like my fifty-five chevy,
...that car sure could fly.
On the top of my head,
...the hair's nearly gone,
Come seven p.m.,
...I'm a starting to yawn,
The memory's fading,
...like an old photograph,
But considering it all,
...I still have to laugh,
'Cause things could be worse,
...I still get around,
And I ain't buried,
...six feet in the ground.
Four kids and four grandkids,
...one more on the way,
And then there is Connie,
...what more can I say,
After forty-two years,
...still the love of my life,
Putting up with me still,
...geez, what a great wife.
Each day off to work,
...I still haven't been fired,
In a couple more years,
...I hope I'm retired,
Well I guess it is time,
...to end this here ode,
Because my old brain,
...just might implode,
From a thinkin' too hard,
...I need me a rest,
At sixty years old,
...I'm still mighty blessed.

Addendum:
It seems that my memory,
...is worse than I thought,
Will, Tracie and Blake,
...I plumb forgot,
Daughter and sons-in-law,
...they're special too,
I've got quite a family,
...and yes, I'm now through.

What a wonderful way to commemorate all that has been given to you, my friend.

Take note - it might NOT be too early to retire...

Think about it. I am.

Love your poem, Tim, but I beat you - I am 67 so WÂÂÂÂÂÂ!   Can't beat Martyjo, though, but I am envious!
