Riding The Greyhound - What A Friend We Have . . .
(from Boyhood Tales)

We had a death
Riding the Greyhound.

Somewhere between
Downtown New Orleans
and Thibodaux, Louisiana,
grey dog lulled her to sleep,
tires humming "What a friend we have . . . "

and she passed in peaceful solitude,
head back, eyes closed,
only person in the row.

I don't know her name,
where she was from,
where she was going,
but if I had to die today,

Jesus,
please let me go just like her,
Big grey dog, guiding my way.

James...

What a lovely, albeit lonely, ride.
She passed, among friends.

I've been involved in some interesting experiences on the Grey Dog, J, but as far as I know nothing tops this.

To just slip away... I think most of us would take that option if it was offered. *S*

Great story, j.
Kind of a quiet joyful sadness.
(If that makes sense)?

Enjoyed the trip.
