The street was slick with rain,
A dark house beckoned me.
The doors they swung open,
Though in my hand the key.

It was a cold, wintry night,
Nothing moved on the street.
You'd think the birds would chirp,
There was no one to greet.

I had a sudden chill,
My lover dead and gone,
No, she moved from room to room,
Waiting for pseudo dawn
