in the shadows

Soiled dancer leaping chancer
shedding hoops of destiny,
spinning nets too fragile left between soft threads
of hope in braids and wisps in chords of dreams,
clinging wistfully to sad refrains of schemes'
lit points in lamps on lantern joints strung through life
inscribed as lines on tangled chains hung randomly
to distract and tempt the acrobatically inclined,
those who never can resign a fool's crusade
on quest for holy grail of sugar coated love,
armored thick in bows and ribbons
lace chiffon and silk,
proper scent to carry messages doomed to pass unread,
perfect shoes by end of night leaving ankles throbbing
as if made of broken glass
...and all for what?

Chase of Hollywood's greedy take on love,
a funhouse mirror's grotesque reflections of the truth?

There is no ache as vast as woman's emptiness
when passion's thirst brings it's heat to bear against the mind.

Couldn't help but find this rather amusing.
Made my feet hurt too. Excellent...as always, Charley.

Excellent!
So enjoyed the read, icebox.
My brain cells had me flying over a snow covered valley heading for a cold water lake.

Enjoyed!!
