Brittle Rose

Up the length of those AC/DC-shakin' American thighs,
you'll find my muse, a girl with Atlantis blue eyes
draped in an effortless loneliness shaped just like him
she's got Van Morrison's Moondance on repeat
to the point of meaning wearing thin

And in time, even the rock of your gypsy soul
infamous for holding fast any man's mangled hull,
could be withered down by love's wicked weather
but in time, your cast-out nets can be strung back together
oh wind-blown feather,
just when the drop will fall from overdose
nobody knows
but beauty still can be found in the folds of a brittle rose

Down the soft avenue of her touch-less body this night,
I wander with my heels six inches off the ground
cloaked in midnight shades and them ol' blue jean blues
she conquers me with just a hand through her hair
never thought it'd feel kinda good to lose

And in time, even the time that slips like sand
that pours into my dreamland eyes, I know I can
picture in portrait a shred of your rainy sunlight
but in time, faces fade like so many autumns under wheels
oh feelings so real,
just when the distance is closed
nobody knows
but grace can still enchant like the hues of a brittle rose

Care, care
my hands open and bare
symbolic heart in dire need of watering
oh but I tell you now, tears aren't the sure thing
from brittle stem
to shadowy men
somewhere between is me
somewhere between is me and my tranquil seas
set like a diamond in the setting sun,
too empty to accommodate just a lonely one
oh mystical soul, do you hear me now?
can't you feel me somehow?

And in time, even the shoals of your gypsy soul
must bare the weight of love's enduring hull
be it withered down to mere morsels of truth
and in time, your cast-out nets can't even cover your dues
ah, bell bottom blues,
just when the purity of true love is posed
someday we'll know
but till then there's plenty of love to be found in your folds of a brittle rose
and beauty, sweet wonder is what I find when I mine
the folds of your heart, soul and mind
you know it's true
and somewhere in the strength of those moondancin' eyes,
I have found my muse.

Oh,  soul drifter, I feel that you have definitely found your Muse. This is a good poem that reads like a black and white photo of a rain-soaked street.
