If, when you look, you just see flaws
Then save your glance this way because
My faults are many, virtues few
Lack of perfection I must rue
All I can offer’s love for you –
Look at me and see the love

If you expect sweet sounding song
You’ll find the notes I utter wrong
But beyond lack of melody
Is a heart that’s in harmony
With all you are and want to be -
Listen and you’ll hear the love

If you want youth, that’s passed me by
I see a mirror, want to cry
The years have taken heavy toll
Wrinkles on skin and scars on soul
Certainly never were a goal -
But feel my touch and know the love

There is no doubt that you could find
More beautiful, better designed
But no one loves you more than me
If you’ll give us a chance you’ll see
Perhaps the best is yet to be -
Let’s fill each day and night with love

I love this. Upfront and sincere is the tone of this beauty, my friend. And, as I read the lines I could truly feel the love. It is a lucky man that takes advantage of that love.

There is great wisdom embedded in your beautiful, sensitive poem, dear Ruth. Love IS the only perfection ever needed indeed. Your heart opens here through your words in all its true and profound beauty.

A gem, my dear!

Love,
Margherita

I think this write shows an attitude
more than ‘qualified’.
It is a true display of a heartfelt honesty,
way beyond what that first verse eludes to.

“If, when you look, you just see flaws
Then save your glance this way because
My faults are many, virtues few
Lack of perfection I must rue”

Enjoyed the read, suthern.

Don't forget that love is a two way street, Ruth and others aren't perfect either...though some think they are.
