She hid her bruises
from the sun
for if Gods children could not see them
then virtue could not be won

Across her collarbone,
scarcely plotted
her arms like soft yarn
apprehensive, silent
underneath the wool, cotton, plaid
a bevy of shirts and sweaters
waited in her corner closet

Into the mirrors face
She grazed her body
each hand covering
her right and left breast

Naked,
the suns unabashed stare
shadowed the tiles of the shower floor
washing, pleading
scrubbing to no avail

The circles beneath her eyes
increasingly darker
as she bribed her bedroom sheets
to hide what she use to love

A skin she inherited from her grandmother
gripped in its tight, porcelain skin
like the banks of snow
that curved around her tiny home.

A skin now faded,
battered,
her red, strapless dress
never to be worn again.

A thousand agonies sensitively displayed, Tomer.
