She asked him for poetry,
his first impressions of her.
So, he wrote and thought about sending her this
this, this 2nd piece of script...

He let her eat silence the day after she had postponed their date.
Twice in two weeks, was more than he could take
He had no more interest, anyway

and what of her, what was appealing?
She looked hot in a slick black dress and thigh high silk stockings.
That was about it.
Everything else out of her mouth was quite a mess.

She knew he was religious, perhaps she confessed.
About a broken marriage, of 8 years
living in America, she had become spoiled
becoming another American "princess"

Now exiled back in her native land
godless, where her worth here is like clothes
from a second hand.

"I can't commit to anything except my cat.", she professed
He laughed at the thought,
as the days revealed she was now giving the cat away
She had bought an expensive hairless hypoallergenic breed
now her estranged exboyfriend is the one who feeds.

"Its not the hair people are allergic to, its the saliva"
cat spit... and the irony, it seemed to fit

"He broke up with me, after a friend invited me to the Turk Caicos Islands on Holiday."
She had agreed

The Islands of Barbary
to be visited by a woman where every word from her lips was utter and pure...
SNOBBERY

He began to ponder, why was she telling him this?
Who was he supposed to feel sorry for?

Rum and Coke, Mojitos
an alcoholic
a bar troll, almost every night
she had invited him for several

What a sight, an aging woman, with a rough complexion
30 something, that professed quite sternly
that she was 18, eternally
and acted like it.

He had written about the woman in black
Now answering the question posed in the poem...
"This is what makes a woman like that."

A waste of time effort and money
"and if she's waiting by the phone...
there will be no message from me."

Who was he supposed to feel sorry for?

Himself, if he makes that call. *S* I like this very much... you've captured that kind of woman perfectly!!!

Fine writing...everyone is looking for happiness...as the song says "looking for love in all the wrong places"...James

Good characterization. I think we have all met someone like that.  My questions is what happens along their path to make them so.  It is sad really.
