           She

she is gone forever
taking the sunlight.

my prison now
is wandering
the soft darkness of
these 'endless' hills
  alone
with only the
sharp-edged memories
of her smile.

‘Love’ should not
be so fragile,
indeterminate,
and as transient
as the morning mists
of Summer passing …
into the Winter
of the soul.

Ah, but love is all that you say, Bruce, and even more. It gives you such a feeling of intense appreciation of the loved one it is hardly bearable. Unfortunately, as I have said, it is also all that you say.

Bruce, so often it is the most transient that is the most beautiful, the most breath-taking, the most precious, the most treasured . . .

My heart hurts for you...I was sure you had found the woman of your soul...Your poem tells how deeply it feels...I agree love should not be so fragile...sending *BIG HUGS* with the hope they help a little...

Oh, but this love still inspires you beautifully, Bruce. As long as your memories are "sharp-edged", you keep it alive.

Romantically gloomy.

This......took my breath away.

The beauty of your words is lovely, and yet it makes my heart ache and hurt so bad.

Thanks to all of you fine folks and v. talented writers who have been so kind
with your comments along the way about my ever-most-humble 'scribblings.'
I'm not sure I 'have it in me' to do any more ... I've become one of Mr. Eliot's
'hollow men' ... I hope all of you will write on though!
