Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2012-09-01 11:26 AM

As a young woman
imagination softened
hard edges of reality
cutting away at
my expectations
with deep gouges
of perplexity

Now of an age
that the rose
has faded
from my glasses
and vexation
holds hands
too often
with understanding

At last a few
gray strands
of wisdom
comforting me
with knowing
that whatever will be
will be

I discovered that gem of life's lesson not too many years ago myself, Lori.

What a contrast, your first verse and your last verse.  But that's just the way it is.
With age comes wisdom, AND a lot of other stuff too.  We can only welcome it, cause it's part of who we are, and it ain't going away...

Such insight you have young lady.
And expressed so well.
Enjoyed the read!!

... and it will be just right.

Wonderfully insightful, dear Lori. I like this and can relate.

Thanks Margherita! Old age it appears is not going to be for wimps! Got to have a little wisdom to survive it! LOL!

We need some sort of compensation... for you're right... aging is not for the faint hearted! LOL I love this... especially the image of vexation and understanding as mismatched companions. Great write!
