You occupied the space you were born into...
for a short while...
and then it just closed up around you
like quicksand...
and you were gone.
It took you away,
took everything...
even your shadow.
Leaving only little sparkles
of memory.
The fairy dust of your essence,
visible only to those who loved you.
And soon they, too, will disappear from their space
while holding tight to a handful of fairy dust.

Oh my, dear Ida, this tugs at the heartstrings. It is so very beautiful in its profound melancholy. Written with your usual mastery.

Love,
Margherita

Heartfelt... no doubt, heart-wrenching.
Enjoyed the read, Ida.

What a sad, mournful piece.  The ache pours forth through this... and the lingering faerie dusts is just precious.  ((Hugs to you, Ida))

I've read this poem many times, each time I do,
I see fairy dust sparkle through my tears
in Gold flecks of Crystal.
So beautiful...

Hi yann, so glad to see you here. I don't post on the other site either. It just isn't worth the trouble.

This is beautiful Ida - as specific as it is universal - the mark of a classic.

The magic of any birth
never quite disappears, but
especially and even more when the wind
didn't get to toss their tendrils much...

Quite lovely, and very sad, Ida.

Thank you for sharing.

If anyone can read this and not be touched, they should be checked for a pulse. Such aching... so beautiful.
