A Death In The Family

It's not the shadows
that lurk in the hollow,
dark areas,
where mismatched corners meet;
nor is it the shoes
so perfectly placed
at the foot of the bed we shared;
and pray,
don't let it be the darkness in my heart
where love so brilliantly glowed . . .

but, it is.

And not because love has tarnished,
or dulled.

It is because there is a death
in this family,
and though I die with every second,
of every day . . .

it was not mine.

Note: Not about me ... but of those who have lost
their inner-most hearts ... several friends of mine,
and recently. Tears for them.

It is a tragic situation, J. Nothing hurts quite as much as a shattered, broken heart.

This is so heart-breaking, the picture painted within this beauty is perfect and so true. Tears leaking at the reading of this, truly fabulous writing.

It does hurt when a close loved one passes on,
family or friend.

Enjoyed the read.

Beautifully and compassionately expressed, Jimmy.  Thank you for being there for those families.

To lose someone you love is to lose a part of yourself...

You wrote the aching absence so very beautifully!!!

Very powerful writing from a purely empathetic standpoint.  I could feel it.  Nicely done.

Extremely poignant words, dear Jimmy. You tug at the heartstrings with this compassionate write. It's just like this when that "glow" is gone ... sigh!

Jwesley,

   It is as if you knew... this has touched me deeply.
August , 2012.    The light was warm and glowing while we were in celebration of hi life.   It's becoming more difficult to jump start the day, but the empathy I felt in your poem is of help.   Thank you for posting such a  heart felt poem
