LAND OF RAINBOWS
18 August 2012

Chocolate, cream and coffee
of every nuance,
we people of the south,
- a rainbow nation -
despite the bloodied raindrops
we have cried,
we rise up again
and sing rainbows splashed with every hue
in multi-lingual voices avian-pure,
to our wide, wide, azure skies
and we will
cry and sing
again
and again
and again
in this glorious
southernmost land
of Africa,
continent
of majestic animals
that roam the plains
and dawn
our magical
earth-birth legends
and joyous birds
that sing
ubuntu lessons
and lift our answering spirits
above the roar of cities.
