So when the blood pumps up and down
It’s like a see-saw deep within
and this I play on all alone
in the confines of my home.

It’s the yes or no, the go or stay,
the will or won’t, the do or don’t,
that keeps the mind in constant play
on the stage of mortal life.

And then there are the clouds of course
that drop their rain on my parade
and in this drip, drop, splatter, splash,
action sinks into the grave.

Like mourners all the me, you, them,
who play this game most every day!

Dear Helen, and what a "game" it is! You touch upon the very mystery of existence ... What makes the motor go and what makes it stop? What is death? Just those little questions ... I believe we are not our body which perishes, we are ultimately a SOUL who is eternal and death is just the shedding of a body that serves no more. The soul lives without a body, but the body can't live without the soul.

As always your words are thought provoking and so I expressed mine.

Have a beautiful Sunday, dear Helen.
Love your poetic ponderings.

Those feeling you described so artfully, Helen, is the rising tides of life and without them we would surely go mad. We are driven by extremes, and even the muddling of everyday questions and decisions are beneficial to or mental health. This one go me to thinking, you are good at doing that.

Thank you all so much for your comments.  It's a game that can be quite exhausting sometimes but we play and we survive.

"Like mourners all the me, you, them,
who play this game most every day!"

Yep!  Most learn at a very earl age:
'you wanna play?  Get in the game!'

Maybe it's best to be the odd one out...

Enjoyed your expression: "The game"
