Little French Schoolhouse

In the little country schoolhouse
some are satisfied with their lives
and they will be happy if they stay
and some study harder than others
hoping to move to Paris one day,
to live and play and work there
far from this small country town
that has a river running through it
with farm houses and barns all around.

The teacher is simply amazing
feeding the students knowledge
and fueling hopes and dreams,
wih every new lesson she shares
the world is more incredible it seems.

The scenery that surrounds the school
is graced with oak and sycamore trees
with spacious meadows all around
full of flowers, butterflies and bees.

Sounds an awful like the schoolhouse I grew up in except mine was in the backwoods town of Taylor, Arkansas, except I knew no one who dreamed of going to Paris. Uh, Paris, Texas maybe. Lovely poetry, James.

You bring to life how it must have been...I grew up on military bases all across Canada so I have had the pleasure of seeing the beauty of nature every place I've been...6 years spent just out side of Quebec City and that was an adventure in itself...love this poem...made me remember some good times...thank you...*BIG HUGS*

Love the imagery here, James. Enjoyed. You should do more of this kind of poetry.
