Summer accolades
lie quiet against my heart.
as I drive through the lacy leaves
of late afternoon.

On my journey,
a couple embrace roadside ~

her arms around his neck,
his lips sweet on the hollows of hers,
he pulled her in tight at the waist ~

oblivious to protocol
and passing motorists.

Let the petals fall where they may,
I divert my interloping gaze,
navigate soft green arbors
and yesterday.

On the radio, "That Old Blue Magic"
leaves a million daystars
dancing in my mind:

My own two-step dream
of shadowed kisses and strong hands
tracing heart and your warm intentions
on the small of my back.

Oh boy. Beautifully rendered, Karen. "Let the petals fall where they may," indeed, and your very descriptive passages allowed the petals to truly manifest themselves. I enjoyed your "drive through the lacy leaves" very much.

My foolish old heart couldn't resist...    I'm glad you enjoyed it's meanderings, Jerry.

I know, but meandering is good.

Karen, I don't think you know how to write anything except excellence, and this was most certainly no exception.  As usual, you put all the colours - metaphorical and literal - all the light and shadow, all the textures, all the nuances into it, all the haunting poignancy of the best close-up moment of a French psychological art film.  Well done, yet again.

Owl...

I have never been to a French phychological Art Film, but your comment is a delightful compliment to my poetic lines.     Thank you!

Oh, dear Karen, I didn't realize that your last poem on here is this wonderful one, from 2012.

To learn that you have passed on brings me great sorrow, but I know you will spread now your eternal wings and bring joy in the space of  beyond, soaring through eternity.

You have always been so very kind to me, thank you for every word shared. To know you was a great enrichment.

May my hug reach you wherever you are.

Dear beautiful spirit and Poetess, God speed!

Love,
Margherita
