in case you are wondering
I kept the letters
they are tear-blotched
from rereading them
every few days
I'd never
let them wither away

I recall our flights of fancy
and sex
the things we did to the other
caused no small gasps
do you remember our confessions
you cried over yours
I was apprehensive over mine

which one of us could possibly forget
the flying of our words
a poetical love was ours
I have all of yours
you did not keep mine
I understand
why that was impossible

sometimes I wonder
if you secreted away some after all

As most women do, I am sure she did. They are alive and well if not hidden, then in her mind's eyes and can easily be recalled. jo

Yeah, some of us guys keep such things, Karen, especially if, as you said, we feel deeply, and I did. Still do. Appreciate the nice comment.

Bittersweet and beautiful... sometimes we need those tangible things to remind us our memories are true... especially when the good recedes into the rear view mirror.

I enjoyed this reflection very much Jerry.

I think everyone, male or female, retains some of it.
Kinda like if you see a photo you haven't seen for 20 years the images bring old memories flooding back.

Nice separation of you and your lover in this piece. You get the differences in a co-exist of familiarity across very well.

Loved it man!

Hi Eric, I agree that the male can be just as sensitive over certain things as can the female. We may not show it as often, but still they are there. Appreciate your thoughts . . .

If...only in her heart...
is where they remain,
then they are indeed
still intact,
and quite tear-stained.

Excellent work.

I believe that in the core of our hearts nothing gets ever lost if we cherish it, but also letters kept emanate great emotions. It happens to me to mourn over things I eliminated.

There is great sensitivity in your words. A touching poem that surely speaks to many!

And it is good to reflect on these types of emotions.  Excellent write on a very difficult subject of the heart.
Very much enjoyed the read, Jerry!

Many thanks, Margherita, for your positive thoughts about my poem. And yes, once things have been eliminated we can only grieve over them.

It is difficult, JL, but the written word is what we are all about here in the Blur Room, so you do what is needed and hope it works out okay. Thank you for you nice thoughts.

They really are, Ms. E. They are even more special from the one who is doing the writing. You just feel so much closer to the one you are writing to, and I know that reading a hand-written letter is very special

Thank you for your input here . . .
