Why is it when you dream at night,
And the nightmares come, full of fright?
You doubt you can wake from this one
After all you have said and done.

The nightmare peers back in your face,
From some dark, sad and lonely place.
You focus and stare at the eyes,
As they float around in the sky.

The darkmare will come after that,
In the guise of a mean, nasty cat.
Her eyes that penetrate and shine,
How else could it be hence defined?

It has you by the throat; can't breathe,
Try as you might, but you can't leave.
It makes you go to darkmare's nest,
Plucks an eye out as a blood test.

You'll never leave this squalid place,
You've lost to darkmare with no grace.
The future's bleak as darkmare's grip,
You try to cry; your tongue's been ripped.

This sounds like a lucid dream.
Some are able to go back
into a lucid dream to rework
the dream's outcome and or experience.

Hopefully that will be the outcome of my Darkmare, Ms. E, a good ending. Thank you for your concern and comments.

A long time ago I trained myself to turn nightmares into sweet fantasy...but the problem is that I can't even watch scarry movies without a pillow to hide behind...very good writing...*BIG HUGS*

That a good trick being able to control and guide your nightmares. Thank you for your comments.
