Not my best work but I may rewrite later.

Tonight upon a starlight fleeting
Came to me an angels greeting
An angel came from St Peter's gate
To speak of love ,it's not too late

The angel spoke with a quiet grace
To tell me love has a gentle face
The face of love was of gods design
But I saw love when your eyes met mine

In your eyes I see a painting
Like the greatest work of art
When I see your smile
I feel like I'm fainting
Falling ever deeper
Giving you my heart.

Nothing wrong with this one, but like me and millions of other poets we keep fiddling with our poems, changing a word here, taking a word or line out . . . We are never completely satisfied.

Startime1955,
Thank you-I find it hard to express my love for Denise in ordinary words, poetry seems to be the only way I can "get through to her'
I am glad that you seem to be able to see it in my poems.
Thank you for your comments and hugs.
Cheers

I see nothing wrong with this at all.  Very lyrical in nature, and sound in content.  I found it enjoyable.

N'oz, I think this is quite lovely and I enjoyed it very much.   Like the Hokey-Pokey, that's what it's all about!
