when we lose what we love
it is a lot like death
so I went to a store
to purchase some joy
I thought it overpriced
so I bought pleasure instead
I needed some sunny skies
And some clabbered clouds
after taking a very deep breath
I looked all around
made sure no one was looking
and pilfered a reproduction of your smile
went home
put on an oldie but a goodie sad song
put your smile on the mantle
cried to the words of the song
and passed yet another day

There are so many things in this poem I like...
but especially that!

I like the feel of this one JP.  I think we must shop at the same store.  A wee bit expensive, yes... but comparitively worth it when I consider how I locked down the bargain basement price on misery so long ago.  What wouldn't I give for an exchange on that one?

Sorry I've been absent, friend... A lot of personal stuff going on with me of late.  Hoping thatwill remedy itself soon.

Thanks, Michael, sorry to hear about the personal problems, hope things begin to level out soon.

Yep, the store does serve it's purpose doesn't it.

JerryP - You're right. Sometimes to get past the day you just gotta go to the store. I went there too and bought a bottle of Hope, made with 7 tinctures of timeless Tenderness, 1/2 gram of amplified Affection and 3 drops of distilled Compassion with a touch of hot sauce. It made me feel better. I told them to save a bottle for you too. Love your work here JP. Namyh

I enjoyed your poem, Jerry, and I am glad you found that store.  I am not rich enough to buy such luxuries at any store.  I need respect more than I need love; and I need validation more than I need respect.  When I feel forlorn (if I have a moment in my continual fight for financial survival), I wrap myself in nature and my animals (both on Earth and in Heaven) shower their unconditional love on me and that sustains me for the next onslaught of whatever.

Ah, that touch of hot sauce makes all the difference in the world, doesn't it, Namyh? Thank you for your kind words.

I hear you, Owl. Validation and respect, of course, can't be bought from the store. It is only through human feelings can these things happen. I wish for them to come to you soon. In the meantime you have nature's bountiful rewards you can cling to.
