even through the worst of your battles
everything isn't lost
you need not wish and hope
or even wait beside the old black-topped road
'cause it'll come, yes, yes it will
it will come to you no matter what
so hold up on tightening that noose
deliverance will show up at a moment's notice

yes, I understand
there is complete darkness in your world
but don't you see
old sol is patiently bidding his time
and soon, probably very soon
he'll enlarge his brightness
and, my friend where there used to be dark
morning will rise and greet your new day

here's the deal
to everything there is a technique
the strong can lose their strength
(just ask Sampson)
the weak can gain (how about Gandi)
destiny likes to carry a big stick
ah, but sometimes it brandishes a carrot
thing is, if you don't fight you'll always lose

don't give up if a battle's lost in a war
keep fighting if its worth fighting for

What do we get if we don't like carrots or big sticks.  Cake?
I don't believe in fighting but perseverance, yes.  Guess we all have to "overcome" to get ... cake - chocolate cake with lots of icing!
But I hear you, Jerry!

Sorry, I guess I was advocating fighting here, Helen. It's just that sometimes, I thought, sticking up for yourself might be a good thing.

Thank you for being here.

I can't seem to learn to stick up for myself...I am afraid of fighting but I do understand the need for it sometimes...*BIG HUGS*

Life can get pretty bad if you don't make a stand, Karen. Thank you for stopping by, I appreciate it.

Karen, I happy t hear that you are standing up for yourself. It isn't pretty sometimes, but the alternative is worse.

Well, yann, if you don't have the energy, try to find where you lost it. Appreciate your comments.

I never liked conflict either but things changed for me when I became a Mother. There is nothing more dangerous then a Mother fighting to protect her child.

You said a truism if I have ever heard a truism, Marilyn. Thank you.
