How do I breathe
in this yawning abyss
as the darkness surrounds
the loss of your kiss

How do I move
with this burden of pain
a heart torn apart
your freedom the gain

My soul was the price
paid willingly for love
you answered my prayers
were sent from above

Now here I lay
in the ashes of hope
not really sure
if it's worth it to cope

As you said to moi, I relate.

I love both the title and verse.  This is a great place to discover you are not alone.  The people here helped me reach the other side sadness.

Thank you all for reading my poems. This happened yesterday...well I found out yesterday that my fiancée was cheating.

Marilyn

This is very lyrical and flows so nicely.

Love these lines,
"Now here I lay
in the ashes of hope"

Good work!

Marilyn - The heartbreak is evident and your verbal portrayal collides with our emotions. I love the craft of your talented pen. Keep the faith because life has a way of turning on a dime and putting a smile back on your face when you least expect it. Namyh

I can't say I had anything to do with writing this piece except that it was my fingers on the pen as it poured out of my soul.

Thank you all for you lovely replies.
