Pendulum

Her chair rocked slowly to and fro
As the clock ticked
Hands turning nowhere else to go
The needles clicked
Incessant dripping of the tap
Honey bees sipped
The sweet nectar from rising sap
Her handbag zipped
A dab of lipstick and perfume
And to the beat
Chair moving to the unheard tune
No tapping feet
But still the rhythm of the chair
Her eyes that see
Behind the lace no vacant stare
And time for tea
To and fro sipping through a straw
I leave her there
Attend another daily chore
Does this seem fair
Is it so selfish what I do
And still she rocks
How do I live with this, could you
Those silly socks
They hardly ever touch the ground
I wipe a tear
In silence, no more rocking sound
This time I fear
Now just the ticking of the clock
Behind the door
Should I go in, or should I knock
To rock no more
Just left the beating of my heart
Has time passed by
The rocking chair once more will start
And time will fly
For nothing stops the ticking clock
Tick tock..... tick ...... tock
