there is myself
and countless others to continue
this poetical dead art
(and I'm not too sure about myself)
still . . .
I am a man
who writes words in a continuous line
to make poetry
I do it without reassurance
sometimes I forget to eat
my future lies in my inglorious past
but the fire is still with me
to write bad poetry
I don't use riddles to confuse
I'm flattered when I've been spoken well of
by persons who take the time to read my twaddle
aficionados of poetry
those looking for a silver lining
don't go thinking I tend to a gentle art
take a good long look
at me on nights when the moon has been hidden
look upon the despicable trap
I've woven myself into

Poetry is dead. Poetry is alive.
It is gentle. It is hard.
A history... a story
Dark...Light
Anything, Everything
We are poetry
We, are the poem

Inspired by your poem, JP.

Beautifully done poetry, Ms E, and thank you, for your said inspiration. Yours is much more positive than I in my self abusive poem today. Thank you again.

The good, the bad, the ugly. A poem just needs someone to read it and maybe remember it.

You are right, Ida. Sometimes we poets tend to try to analyze our own work a little too much I think. That's where I guess this one came from. Thank you very much for reading it and commenting.

Thank you, Karen. Yes, I do write from the heart. I just got caught up in the moment with this poem. It happens. Thank you for stopping by.

JerryP - As long as we poets realize that ink flows in our veins along with blood, we'll write forever. It's our therapy whether we like it or not. Enjoyed your words JP. Namyh

Yeah, you're right,Namyh, I wandered into the no-man's land of thought-proving tapestry, but wound up with egg on my face it seems. Thank you for being here.

You're right Jerry, there's no professionals here and competition shouldn't be the basis of our expressions.
So here we are just being as open as the mind and heart allow.
You just did that in this piece so it becomes a part of you let out to create, yes you guessed it! Poetry!

Discouragement is a part of the cycles of our biological makeup just as well as confidence and positiveness.
We feed off all of them. The trick is to learn from it all and that should make a better us.

This is called being raw and harsh with oneself but also having the guts to expose one's need for self examination.
Great stuff!

Thank you Eric. Sometimes a bit of self-introspection is a good thing, kinda gives you a better understanding of yourself, if you're honest.
