Sweetness & Tremendous Sea

It's a tremendous sea
     eyes shimmer up and down
                         the surface of dreams
the curved coastline of you
      splayed wingtips of silver tides
                          dancing for the moon

Sweetness comes in hues of hidden love,
a lipstick scar and a surrender dove,
you hoist up your desaturated ribbon of spring,
and clear my creaking decks of every painful thing
fly the clear slate of a too blue summer
yeah I can go under,
and it just might be the magnet I'm dying for

You're a hushed October
     hair of autumnal darkly spills
                        it's taking me over
hearts carved on skin and trees
framed by shards of brilliant green
                       rapture has lifted me

Sweetness comes in tones of iconic lust,
a blue-green painted eye blushed
like the first breathe of sunlight lemon burst,
though it goes down easy it doesn't quench any thirst
sighing like a snake highway summertime
oh I could feel fine,
and I just might be the feeling you're reaching for

The wreck of my emotions
     mast ripped on your loving
                       but raging oceans
this compass spin I've seen
her name painted on the stern
                       like a fading dream

And lo and behold!
Into that dream we flow
like a Gram Parsons overdose,
scarlet down by the tresses of the sea,
just you n' me,
pulling like naive children on the tendrils of our love
stoking the fires of all our love
yeah tripped up in wires and slinging the mud
waiting for the rain to saturate us just enough
just enough to glorify this love...
(and along comes the Association to sing: )

Enter the young,
believe the daily lie of life
                   looking for a little sun
the jagged edge of age
      through thirtysomething or other
                   color bleeds the page

And along the dense grove of adoration it goes
to align our love into a blazing phoenix pose
sliding along the surface of dreaming free
and reflected in the ripples of such a tremendous sea

And ooh that sweetness
it comes in death throes of autumnal loneliness,
splayed wingtips of new blue-green tidings
dancing for love of you n' me
yeah you n' me
