DADDY...

     It was March 19, 2011...
When God came down and took you to Heaven.

You laying on the hospital bed, your hands I hold.
You took your last breath, your body so cold...

I cried as I layed my head on your chest...
Your soul is free, to take your eternal rest..

Your body has passed, a heart with no beat..
Who do I laughingly call now "The Black Man of Kern St."?

I miss hearing your voice, and seeing your crooked smile..
I so badly want to call you, but no number to dial..

I call out your name, but you're still not around..
I stare at your ashes holding your picture I found...

I speak to you daily, I hope you can hear?
I miss you, I love you.. still wish you were near.

Dear Veronica,

I know the loss of a father, beloved by
all of his family and friends, and even
though he left us in 1988, his face and
voice are as dear to me now as it ever
was. I send you my regards.

Please check your email for a
Very Special Greeting.

Thanks everyone, I miss him dearly. I just wish it didn't take his death for me to realize how much he meant to me. It's hard that I had been upset with him for so long and couldn't forgive him before he passed. I just hope he knows how much I really did love him. Writing poetry whether its good or bad helps me to express and release. It comes from my heart.

Such a time of trauma for you.
All of us at one time or another have experienced the loss of a loved one and know what you're going through.
This is a heartfelt expression very well done.
My condolences.

PS - I just read your reply and wanted to add somethng.  I know it has to hurt that you did not get to say the things that you want to have said.  If only we knew when we are offered our last opportunities.  However, I believe that parents have unconditional love - and I am sure that he understood you better than you understood yourself.  Parents are smart that way.  Therefore, I bet he knew how much you love him.  Hold on to that.

I just read your reply also.
We all have regrets but we do continue on.
Your reply reminded me of the song, "The Living Years" by Mike & The Mechanics.
It was the song of the year back then.

I wish you the best and your can be sure the Sovereign of the universe knows your tender heart.

Welcome to the Pip family, dear Veronica!

I read in your profile that you love to rhyme and indeed you have done a great job with this poignant poem remembering your dear Daddy.

It happens ever so often that we realize the depth of feelings only when it seems too late to mend, but as other friends here have said, parents understand. And when they move on they understand even better, I would say.

Love,
Margherita

I guess its the same as my 12 year old telling me she hates me and I'm the worst mother in the world because I take something away from her lol. And within an hr she tells me she loves me and she's sorry. And even when she doesn't...I know she loves me no matter what
