Some of Her Time

She danced in the clubs
close to the Folies-Bergere
hoping she would dance
in the big time someday.
On Sunday mornings she
would have some
time for me
to talk to laugh
to eat to dance
to share some of her
time romantically.
I knew at that time
she didn't mind
being mine
but she would
lose that time
on the day that
she made the big time,
after all of the work
right in the middle
of her struggle
once she made it
at the Moulin Rouge
she had no more time
to kiss and snuggle.

Someone once told me, "Each person's life is a strand of fate... And all the strands cross and twist and wind themselves through each other on the way to their final destination.  That two came together for awhile and then separated is never something to ultimately be grieved, but appreciated."  It sounds to me like you have the appreciation part down, and had the forsight as well to appreciate it even then, when you knew it wouldn't last forever.

Very enjoyable read, James. You inspire me.

James

Good writing, you took the most out of the time and even though it might hurt you accepted it for what it was, a touch with permanance excluding the reality of the situation.
