Note to Self

Perfunctory bleeding on paper,
That's about the size of it.
It doesn't matter if you like,
Or even if you love it.
My feelings I could not taper
Unto this human form.
...My intuition to this psyche,
My persona to the norm.

But watch I, as unrolls the scroll
To the blood-signed signature.
With no mem'ry of it, could I have sold soul?
And for this? Are you really sure?
But those marks are mine, and to this line
Of thinking, irrationally drawn...
I watch, as hope tumbles down the slope
Of another fast fading false dawn.

Would you sing "Stairway to Heaven" for me?
Or, perhaps, "Highway to Hell?"
For it's but one road, one story...
It's just taken this long to tell.
And you can't change the road you're on!
Don't let ol' Rob mislead you…
When that Ship of Fools is long, long gone,
There's but silence left to bleed you.

Murder's the measure, high and proud,
And it's but yourself you're killing.
With all your songs proclaimed so loud!
And prophecies self-fulfilling.
So turn the hourglass, one last time –
The free falling sands inviting,
By speculative chance, the truth in rhyme...
He has my name in writing.

Couldn't be any plainer than that, Michael. And you are one hundred percent correct, feeling are emotions not to be tapered with even if you could.

Enter into the fray and leave it mostly unbloodied.

Michael... Really deep topics revealed within this poem. I really like your references to some great songs. It's sort of ironic how our lives can be defined by certain songs throughout our lives.
Really enjoyed this as always...Paul

When you write this beautifully and can touch so deeply, tapering should never be a consideration! *S* Excellent write!
