I live alone
well, my mutt Zoe keeps me company
she's a sweetheart
don't have a job
except writing, and I do that daily
have a novel going
always it seems
poetry, you betcha I write every day
sometimes I get a wild hair
and really get down with the poems
like this morning
I awoke and realized
I had fifty-six unpublished poems
so what'd I do
in an act so stupid I still can't believe it
deleted all fifty-six from the CD
gone
forever and ever
gone
if I was a wimp
I'd be crying
I feel like crying
AT&T Techs (three different ones)
and I tried to pluck
the poems out of cyberspace
nothing doing
they're gone
excuse me
my wimpyness is coming out in me
I need to go somewhere
and cry

I feel for you, JP. Well, at least you're not missing
one hundred poems... 56 is a lot though.
I hope they will come back to you, in time.

That's whu I print out every poem and paste it in a notebook. Sometimes you need old fashioned back-up.

Awww ... for every tear you cry a new poem will be born within your heart, I say. You are a very prolific writer.

Still I hope it will be possible to track them somehow.

Bitter moment well rendered.

Karen, slept on it. Still sick, but life goes on. Thanks for the commiseration.

That is a very good idea, Ida, about printing them out. Thanks.

I use to print them out ages ago and have just started doing it again. But I have thousands especially from that first year or two of being online.

I bought several scrapbook type albums and will spend the summer picking out certain ones and illustrating or decorating them with the memories.  They won't have any particular meaning to anyone else but if and when I  feel like going back in time~~~ they will be there to remind me of how I got to where I am.

Sorry about losing yours in cyberspace.

Thanks, M. I don't feel the same amount of disgust and horror as I did yesterday. Yesterday I just couldn't believe I had really deleted those poem. I kept putting the CD in the computer just knowing that the poems weren't really gone. I'll survive, but still . . .

Jerry

I feel for you man. Thats why I always print mine like Ida, also I put them on a flash drive.

Do you have a go back feature on your computer where you could go back for 24 hrs. and it would all be like it was 24 hrs from now

Thanks, Paul. I call myself being very careful, it was just one of those weird things that happened. Yeah, I have that feature, it didn't work, because the poems were all individually burnt onto the CD and then erased. I fear they are gone forever.

and now I know.

I'm so sorry.

Jerry, if you posted any of them here they will be in the archives. I hope you did. If not, all I can say is I am sorry,as I know they would be hard to rewrite as they exactly as they were by memory alone. jo

No, they were ALL unpublished, Jo. I just tried a recovery software, but it didn't do anything. They;re just gone, and nope, I could never rewrite them. Thank you for your kind words.

Whew, Jerry that's too bad man, wow, is there nothing you can do?

Must be quite an empty feeling as there would be a lot of fond work done in those.

Keep on writing!

If there is anything to do I don't know what, Eric. I have been with the AT&T Tech guys and gals. they couldn't do anything. I tried it myself with a software, didn't do anything. It made me almost physically sick the day it happened.

I'm better now, suthern, time helps you put things in perspective. Ah, but the day it happened was not a good day and the two days after that day weren't so good either.

Thanks for stopping by with your sympathy face on  today.
