In My Back Pocket

You’d never guess to see me
keeping one safely hidden
yet still too close for comfort
He has taken my freedom

Locks and chains do not hold him
he can throw an awful fit
puts neighbors in a tizzy
So I have to let him out

He gets me into a mess
causing trouble everywhere
bringing stares and loud anger
With words to make me confess

He’s just a little fellow
you would think he’d do no harm
wish I had a magic wand
I would take control of him

He stands just three inches high
and likes the free ride he gets
as I carry him around
There is a gleam in his eyes

He whispers the fun of sin
saying there’s no one to know
he would never tell a soul
But I know he will deceive

He says it’s just to have fun
no one will ever be hurt
sowing wild oats it is called
Surely I am not alone

Smiling we’d party tell dawn
be flirty with the cute men
take one home to have some fun
Then forget him when he’s gone

He knows when I am lonely
there’s a twinkle in his eyes
saying I’ll feel right as rain
Sometimes I start to lean close

I guess I’m just stuck with him
tempting me both day and night
to stray from what I’ve been taught
Leading me right into sin

I wish I could lock him up
not to hear his taunts again
or feel tempted to listen
To the silly, wicked little IMP I keep deep in My Back Pocket

Fantastic, Karen!!! I think we all have a little imp somewhere on our person. Thank goodness we do. Life would sure be boring if we didn't.

Smiling here ... that little imp must be overjoyed to be carried around in your back pocket!

You developed this temptation theme very well and with the right dose of humour.

I think we all have one of those that like to whisper in our ear every once and awhile. Nicely done! Kat >^..^<
