she was a mean woman
she died slowly
without my love
gritting her false teeth
like she had just caught a chill
but it was the pain
lying there unable to move
she doesn't recall how mean of a woman she was
as she feels the cold hand
of death

Cold would have been another good title.
I hope that this distilled spirit of your pain is the dregs. Of all your memoir pieces this was the for me the most powerful.

Thank you, Lori, and yes, I believe this could be considered the dregs of my thoughts on my mother. Yes, again. Cold would have been a good name for it.

this stings with life and death.
sorry you must wear this badge of pain.
the writing is glorious though.

I appreciate your comments, Emma. Hopefully I can put it all to rest sooner than later.

I've known many a man who had a terrible mother. I've known a few men who were born from such wonderful women.

It is admirable that those who had such terrible mothers, found some awesome treks to follow, far and away from the madness.

And why, when those born of such good, could turn into such louses.

Nature, a funny mistress, she.

I understand and know you are correct. I would like to put it all behind me, but it still lingers. Thank you for your input Sunshine.

Mean people wouldn't reflect on such things, their too busy feeling sorry about themselves. Such lives are sad. Yet it was my experiences with mean people that I learned to love and treat others with love. So I guess some times people change (:

I'm sorry, Juju, my mother is the one person in the universe that I cannot forgive. Thank you for reading and commenting on this decidedly hard poem.

I understand that feeling pretty well. The last 6-7 years I have spent being screwed over by people some, who are suppose to help me. I got so depressed and sad I just snapped and then I saw things in a different light. Funny how life is. I understand those feelings and I don't judge you for having those feelings.

Thank you, Juju. I have someone I admire who is trying to influence me into the forgiving mode. At least I am thinking about it, because of my friend. I refused to say "I forgive her" when in my heart I don't. Still, I am mulling it over, and that is something I've refused to do for the last sixty-three years. I really appreciate you thoughts on this subject, and that you have had similar experiences also means much.

This must have been hard to post  - A glimpse of your life, your pain, the anger, and the sadness.
I think just acknowledging all of your feelings is a step in the right direction.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Trina. Yeah, it was difficult, but necessary I believe.
